Unless you purchase with Mithril correct.

It's a basic principle in most new MMO's for devices etc.

If you are not able to purchase Mithril check out the TapJoy offers in game menu, should get enough for more pretty simple.

^-- Tried using Tapjoy yet? The only things you'd need to use your free Mythrils for should be Extra Character and Zone Packs for this beta.

Agreed, but that's the beauty of TapJoy offers even though they can be a pain at times, the offers never run out (daily/weekly etc)

When I click on any category to expand the shop, it takes me to a page that says invalid email.

Only possible thing I can think of is password reset, but not sure if that will help at all.
